Macau is a good day excursion from HK. But I would recommend longer if you can because there is a lot to see. You can truly have whatever type of holiday you want, from the crazy casinos, installations, gambling etc. to the portuguese/chinese heritage that is so unique and fascinating and even go there for a great foodie escape (with all the street food, snacks and michelin starred restaurants). I have been twice and always for a longer time 2-3 days and very much enjoyed it. I wrote a very detailed post here https://onceinalifetimejourney.c...-travel-guide/ and happy to help with choosing where to go/what to see

On my visit I walked from the Outer Ferry Terminal to the city, and did all of the main sights on the peninsula walking around on foot, before getting a taxi to the Cotai Strip. It can be a lot of walking, depending how much you want to see, but it's a good way to see the city.

Nice one, thanks; in that case I'll get it booked up! Of course I'd love to spend longer than a single day there but given all my other travel plans next year it's just not possible.
